Repomix
Rank #39io.github.yamadashy/repomix
Pack local or remote codebases into AI-friendly files that LLMs and coding agents can read or search
What you can do with Repomix
Repomix packs a whole repository into one AI-friendly file; in --mcp mode it lets an agent pack a local directory or a GitHub repository and then read or grep the packed output.
- Pack a local codebase for an LLM to read
- Clone and pack a public GitHub repository by URL
- Read a packed output by line range
- Grep a packed output with a regular expression
- Review a repository without exposing credentials (Secretlint check)
What Repomix can and cannot do
Seven MCP tools: pack_codebase, pack_remote_repository, attach_packed_output, read_repomix_output, grep_repomix_output, and in sandbox mode file_system_read_file and file_system_read_directory. Remote packing accepts a GitHub URL or user/repo shorthand with --remote-branch for a branch, tag or commit.
- pack_codebase
- pack_remote_repository
- attach_packed_output
- read_repomix_output
- grep_repomix_output
- file_system_read_file
- file_system_read_directory
- Reads repositories only; no issue, pull request or write operations
- Binary files are excluded from the output (paths are still listed)
- File processors that run external commands are disabled in MCP mode
- Sandbox mode is application-level confinement, not an OS sandbox, and disables remote packing and attaching outputs
- Code compression (--compress) is experimental
What you need before using Repomix
The registry listing declares no required environment variables or authentication. This is declared metadata, not a verified install — the repository README is the authority.

- Runtime
- Node.js (npx -y repomix --mcp) or the ghcr.io/yamadashy/repomix Docker image
- Credentials
- None documented
- Also needed
- Remote config files are not loaded unless --remote-trust-config is passed
Connect Repomix and confirm it works
- Add the server with command npx and args -y repomix --mcp (or claude mcp add repomix -- npx -y repomix --mcp)
- Optionally add --sandbox <dir> to confine file tools to one workspace
- Restart the client and confirm the repomix tools appear

}Ask the agent to pack the repository yamadashy/repomix with pack_remote_repository and summarise its structure.
Expected: The agent reports a packed output id with file and token counts, then describes the main directories.
